In Marty's own words, "My journey through life was as a general rule a bowl of cherries." He loved his family, and especially his spouse Edna Doerksen who has gone before him. He Loved his country, his friends, and his family in every aspect of his life. He was a selfless man who sought to serve others, and passed these ideals to many who knew him. His final request to all who knew him was simple, "I would ask that you not mourn my passing for to long, but remember the nice things about me and enjoy life to the fullest and treat your loved ones with dignity and love and you will be rewarded."
